Betsy van Dyke: "I will not be without ScoopRX in my Barn"

USDF gold medalist Betsy van Dyke saw the difference ScoopRX products made in her best Grand Prix horse, Cantana.

When a logistical issue within the barn she was stabling took “Tanner” off his ScoopRX supplements, van Dyke noticed a stark difference.

“There was a dramatic decrease in his gut function. He got really sucked up, he dramatically lost weight, and his topline was just looking old all of a sudden,” she recalled. “I immediately put him back on the products, and he just bloomed again. I mean, he put on probably 200 pounds in a matter of weeks.

“The difference was unreal, just that those supplements made with him being able to better absorb his nutrition again and probably getting rid of some ulcers along the way.”
We met with van Dyke in her Wellington, FL base and went inside her feed room to learn more about how she utilizes ScoopRX in her program.

“Without good nutrition, the training only goes so far,” she said.

PRIORITIZING NATURAL INGREDIENTS

Nearly any species could eat out of van Dyke’s feed room: Her horses don’t receive any processed feed at all. The menu instead consists of premixed steam rolled oats, soaked whole flaxseed and alfalfa pellets.

“I find it extremely important for the nutrition of my horses to know exactly what they are eating,” van Dyke said. “ScoopRX is the perfect top dressing. All I have to do is put one scoop in if I want to, and if I want to top dress with more and add some liquid to it, it’s easy. Plus, I can always check with [Scoop RX Founder Marian Nilsen] to see if what I’m doing makes the most sense for each horse.”

Van Dyke has each of her horses on one of ScoopRX’s equine daily scoop powders: Athlete, Master, or Queen.

“It’s great for overall health and really helps them to be able to handle the high-performance work that they need to do,” van Dyke said. “I particularly am a mare person, so I love Queen because of the added bonus it gives the mares. Queens need a little extra sparkle, so I’m a huge fan of that.”

LQUIDS

Van Dyke looks to Sport for horses in increased work, particularly during the hotter months of the year in Florida’s demanding climate.

“I find Sport to be a great product for horses that are really starting to increase the level of their performance,” van Dyke explained. “The recovery rate when they’re on Sport is insane. It’s perfect for Florida summers when you have a horse that’s having a hard time recovering from the heat and humidity.”

GUT HEALTH

You’ll find all of ScoopRx’s GI products in van Dyke’s feed room—paste, liquid, and powder. GI Balance can be used daily or for as-needed gut support, while GI Balance and GI Rescue can also be used safely with dogs.

“I feel like it’s just a necessity,” she said. “It it’s GI Rescue paste or if it’s GI Balance or GI Strength—any of those gut products are just absolutely incredible.”

SIMPLIFICATION OF THE FEED ROOM

Not everyone can maintain a completely holistic feed room like van Dyke. But she knows any client of hers can manage a daily scoop.

“I love ScoopRX for many reasons—one is that I can easily recommend it to clients, because it streamlines their feed rooms. They can literally order one box of a bulk item like Master if they want,” she asserted. “I have clients that have just so enjoyed having just one scoop for their grooms or their management to put in each horse’s feed. They know that they are completely covered, everything is taken care of, and their horses are happy and healthy.”
