Dave Thind: Overseas & Back with GI Rescue

“I feel like the bottom line is what a lot of companies find most important…but that’s not the mission [with ScoopRX]. I give Marian all the credit. When I find people like that, who have products like that, I stick with them.”

Longtime equestrian Dave Thind has always been particular when it comes to feeding his horses.
He’ll be the first to tell you: He avoids GMO products and anything with “filler.”
“I don’t jump on supplements easily because a lot of them come with filler, and in that filler is usually stuff that is very counterproductive,” Thind shared. “Therefore, I prefer to pay a little more for a quality product.
“I’m quite into products that are as natural as possible.”
A German-certified dressage trainer, Thind is now a Feldenkrais practitioner by trade, specializing in improving horses’ and riders’ biomechanics in the saddle. When ScoopRx Founder Marian Nilsen sought out Thind for his services, Thind, through casual conversation, quickly realized the woman with whom he was working understood his views on holistic nutrition.
“In my line of work, I help riders understand how they can help their horses move better and function better, whether it’s for jumping or dressage,” Thind explained, “but of course, muscle and nutrition also play a role in this.
“Knowing who Marian was personally, what she stood for, and what she wanted to do with horses and for horses, I knew that there was going to be high quality in her products,” he added.
Thind understood he had work to do when his 7-year-old “dream horse” by the well-known stallion Secret was having gut issues. The 18.2h Grand Prix prospect lost a substantial amount of weight upon being imported to the U.S. and for an extended period afterward experienced intermittent fecal water, while also exhibiting some signs of discomfort. Knowing another trip overseas to train with Rien van der Schaft in Holland was on the horizon, Thind wanted his horse’s health improved and better set up for a successful transatlantic journey. So, he consulted Nilsen.
Nilsen recommended ScoopRX’s GI Rescue paste. Ideal for horses experiencing gas, diarrhea, bloating, or behavioral changes related to gut discomfort, GI Rescue’s concentrated formula delivers powerful relief and can deliver immediate support during periods of high stress.
“It resolved immediately,” Thind said.
He then bought a month’s supply.
“I wanted to give [my horse] every chance to feel good before travel, during travel, and when settling in,” Dave said. I’m really glad I did it, because he didn’t just do well; he’s thriving—so much so, there we even comments about, ‘Wow, that horse just shipped overseas? He doesn’t look like it.’”
Thind is taking it slow with his horse, whose large frame has made maturation an extended process, but he believes his partner will reach the Grand Prix level and has international quality. “I’m in no rush to do it because of his size, but I know it’s in there,” he said.
For now, the focus is on “patient [and] correct” training—and making sure GI Rescue is at the ready when needed.
“I saw results immediately,” Thind said. “It’s been several months now [since shipping to Holland], and my horse hasn’t been on any [gut support supplements]. I just came back from a one-month intensive training period with him, and he feels really good to me, physically and mentally…That just shows how effective the product is. I’ll be sure to include it in at least some kind of periodic, cyclical-type way in his management.”
